This is a photo of a model rushing backstage at India Fashion Week. I like this image because normally a model walks gracefully on a catwalk and it is unusual to see them rushing around like so. I like the sepia tones in this image and the blur, showing the hurried movement.

This is a photo of a Ugandan man shielding his child beneath a mosquito net. Because the net is not treated with any insecticide, it is less effective in malaria prevention. A later test showed the child was in fact infected with the disease, malaria being the leading cause of mortality in Uganda. I like the colours in this photo. The deep blue under neath the man and his child and the green net overtop of them contrast to the darker colours in the image.

This is a photograph of a building in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, which a portrait of the countries founder, Kim Il-sung. He is known as "the Great Leader" and is the grandfather of the current leader, Kim Jong-un. What I like about this photo is the illumination of the portrait in the middle of a gloomy landscape, in a country of horrible events and surroundings, the people's patriarchy still shows through.

This is a photograph of fencing at the London Olympics. What I like about this image is that you cannot see where this person's weapon is going or who is holding the weapon that is so close to their face. I also like the American flag on this person's mask, which looks unusual in black and white.
